My name is Tara Robinson and I am a recent MBA
graduate with a concentration in Fashion Management. I am interested in a Marketing/Market Research or Merchandising position for a beauty, fashion or consulting firm. I will not bore you with the
cliché sayings like, “I have a passion for fashion” because that’s not what
truly motivates me I am not inspired by selling
belts, a pair of heels or a garment; it’s the intent what lies behind those
bottles and hangs on those mannequins that drives me. My motivation comes from what these companies are truly selling; moments. Moments that wipes away all insecurities and short comings;
allowing each consumer to feel beautiful in the skin that they are in. I
believe that I can be a true asset on articulating this emotional connection
and moments to your consumers.
I am disciplined,
determined and I have a strong work ethic that will ensure that I
will succeed in this industry. I have acquired my
analytic and strategic skills through my B.A in International Business and
experience in marketing.
My undergraduate degree has also taught me how to adapt strategies and
leadership methods to each market. I have held numerous leadership roles as the
President and Co-Founder of the Black Student Alliance at CUA and VP of the
Caribbean Student Association. As a freshman at CUA I realized that the black
students had a low retention rate because of financial pressures and lack of a
community. The organization has grown to meet the needs of the students and is
now one of the most active organizations on campus and in the D.C collegiate
community.
In my previous position position as the Student
Marketing Coordinator, I manage and control our interest database. One of
the aspects of my position is analyzing that data to suggest new marketing
strategies to reach our target consumers. These new marketing strategies have
greatly increase our interest inquires and program enrollment. My current MBA
degree fuses the creative and analytic side of the retail industry
which provides me with a unique perspective and in-depth knowledge. Throughout my MBA
degree I have taken courses in Retail Planning & Control, Finance,
Accounting and Fashion Merchandising therefore I am well versed in supply chain
management, retail math and finance.
I have also gained experienced in retail where I quickly rose to a supervisory position through hard work and going above the duties of my position. My most recent position as a keyholder at Fox’s has taught me crucial skills and tasks. One of my responsibilities includes managing the daily consolidations and markdowns of inventory to insure that we have high performing vendors in the store. While I am acting as the manger on duty I am in charge of meeting sales goals and assigning positions to sales associates.

With my strong communication skills and
captivating presentation/public speaking style, makes it easy for me to build
strong relationships at any organization.
I would very much appreciate the chance for a personal interview. Thank you for your time and consideration.
